Starting counselling can feel like a big step - but we are in this together and it's okay to feel worried or nervous before you or your child's first session.
One of the most important elements of counselling is the relationship between counsellor and client. It is imperative that you (or your child) feel safe and seen in our work together - that you feel witnessed in whatever challenges are bringing you to counselling.

Counselling is offered in person at my office in North Vancouver, or virtually via the Jane booking platform telehealth software. I do not offer virtual appointments for children (in some cases if the child is sick and does not want to cancel their session I will allow a virtual session).

Initial Session
Whether you are booking counselling for yourself or you are a parent or caregiver who is setting up counselling for their child, we will always have an initial session to discuss preliminary paperwork and talk about important concepts like confidentiality, informed consent, and hopes for counselling. A 50 or 75-minute session is appropriate for our first meeting.

Subsequent Sessions
I offer sessions at varying lengths based on your preference. The standard session time is 50 minutes, but you can also choose a shorter 25-minute session or a longer 75-minute session depending on how you feel. Sometimes the 25-minute sessions can act as a good 'warm up' for children coming to counselling if they are particularly nervous or apprehensive.

Family Sessions (2 or more family members)
Family sessions are offered once agreed upon with me! It is important that we don't just jump into a family session without some prior discussion.

Sliding Scale
I offer a limited number of sliding scale sessions for my clients. These sessions are reserved for clients who are facing financial hardship and might not otherwise have access to mental health support.
