Frequently Asked Questions
How much is counselling?
Great question - talking about finances up front is sometimes tricky. I have set my rates in line with the recommendations from the BCACC. Here are my current rate breakdowns:

50-minute session (in person or virtual) is $150.00 plus GST which comes out to $157.50

75- minute session (in person or virtual) is $225.00 plus GST which comes out to $236.25

25-minute session (in person or virtual) is $75.00 plus GST which comes out to $78.75

The government has recently announced that they plan to remove GST from counselling services in the 2024-2025 fiscal year - stay tuned!
Is counselling covered by my benefits?
I hope so!
Confirm with your benefits provider that they cover 'Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC)'. I am an RCC. I am not a psychologist, psychiatrist or social worker.
Unfortunately I do not offer direct billing, so you will have to pay upfront and then submit your invoice to your benefits provider for reimbursement. The digital invoice that is generated by Jane (the booking and payment software) has all of the relevant details including my registration number.
What do you actually do in play therapy?
Trust me I'm not just an expensive babysitter. When a child tells their parent that all they did in counselling was play UNO and draw a picture of their cat, you might think... what did I just pay for? Child and youth therapy is kind of mysterious.
Expressive play and art therapy is kind of like the younger version of adult talk therapy. Children tell stories and share information about themselves through their actions and behaviours and a therapist gleans this through play and playful interaction.
